Meet the Artist: Kelly Brazil
Collaborators: Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center, Angie Raschio, and Loren Ziemek
Kelly Brazil welded and fabricated five separate bicycle racks in collaboration with the Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center. Angie Raschio and Loren Ziemek, both with ties to Full Cycle Bike Shop, completed an Oxy-Acetylene found object sculpture class and assisted in the process. Angie and Loren concentrated on building the bike rack that is located on public property, gathering information on navigating systems at the City level for approval of the bike rack on City property. The remaining four bike racks are on private property and have been created in close collaboration with the artist and property/land owner.
Most all of the materials and items used to build the bike racks are found or discarded metal objects or donated items such as car doors, motorcycle parts, bicycle parts and rebar.
